Google Review Request Templates
A good Google review request fits in three lines: the customer’s first name, a thank-you for the specific job, and the direct link to your review box. Below are copy-paste templates for text, WhatsApp and email, short and long, plus a follow-up.
Swap in [First name], [job], [link], [Your name] and [Company]. No link yet? Our free Google review link generator makes one.

Text message templates
Text — short
Hi [First name], thanks for today. Here’s the Google review link I mentioned: [link] [Your name]
Text — longer
Hi [First name], it’s [Your name] with [Company]. Thanks for having us out for [job]. If you have a couple of minutes, a Google review would really help. It’s how folks around here find us. [link] Have a good night!
Text — casual
Hey [First name], thanks again! If you’ve got a minute for a Google review, here’s the link: [link] Appreciate it. – [Your name]
WhatsApp templates
WhatsApp — standard
Hi [First name], thanks again for [job]. Here’s the link for a Google review on the job: [link] Thanks in advance, [Your name]
WhatsApp — casual
Hey [First name], [Your name] here. Thanks for trusting us! Google review link: [link] Talk soon
When WhatsApp makes sense in the US (and when a text is better): Google reviews on WhatsApp.
Email templates
Email — standard
Subject: Thanks, [First name] — how did we do on your [job]? Hi [First name], Thanks for choosing [Company] for your [job]. If you have a couple of minutes, a Google review would help us a lot. It’s what people read when they’re looking for a contractor nearby. Leave a review: [link] Thanks, [Your name] [Company]
Email — short
Subject: Your Google review Hi [First name], Thanks for your business. Here’s the link to leave a Google review: [link] [Your name], [Company]
Email fits customers who booked by email, and commercial clients like property managers and offices. For homeowners, a text is usually more direct.
Follow-up template
One follow-up, a few days after the first request, and only if the link hasn’t been clicked.
Follow-up — text or WhatsApp
Hi [First name], just a quick reminder, no pressure: here’s the Google review link if you get a minute. [link] Thanks, [Your name]
Follow-up — email
Subject: Quick reminder Hi [First name], No pressure at all, just resending the Google review link in case it got buried: [link] Thanks again, [Your name]
What to say before you send
“I’m going to text you a link for a Google review. It really helps, it’s how people around here find me.”
Then the text shows up as the next step, not a surprise. More in how to ask for Google reviews.
What these templates leave out on purpose
- “5 stars”: you ask for a review, the customer picks the rating.
- “If you were happy”: every customer gets the same message. Google prohibits selectively asking for positive reviews.
- A discount, gift card or raffle entry in exchange for a review: prohibited by Google.
Reference: Google’s content policy.
In Own Your Ratings, the request is already written: pick the customer and the channel, and it opens in your messaging app with their name and your link. You can edit it before you tap Send.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a review request be?
Three or four lines. The customer should see the link without scrolling.
Should I mention the specific job?
Yes, when you can. “Your new water heater” reads like a person wrote it; “your recent service” reads like a robot did.
Can I edit these templates?
Please do. Keep the first name, the thank-you and the link; change the rest to sound like you.
